The thermostat mode modulates the flame and fan automatically to keep the room temperature to your controllable setting. The seven day programmable timer is an added comfort setting to set your fireplace to turn on and off automatically at set times during the day. This is especially nice in the cold months: to wake up with the fireplace warming your room in the chilly mornings.
